Import old Datas without Backup?

Postby adnares » Thu Nov 24, 2016 6:15 pm

Hi

I had an big crash on my Windows 10 home 64Bit computer, so that I have to reinstall the system. I use a new Harddisk, so that the old files are intact.

Is there now any chance to get the old Incredimail-Files to the new ones, so that I didn't lost all my important Emails and contacts?

or maybe a chance to find the emails anywhere to print them?

Thanks

In this case, to import the previous messages and contacts, please do the follwoing:

1. In File Explorer, browse to the following location:
O:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\IM

Note: "O" refer to the old hard drive, and YOURUSER refers to your previous Windows user.

As the "AppData" folder may sometimes be hidden, for instructions on how to show hidden files and folders in Windows, please refer to the online article at:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... dden-files

2. Copy the "Identities" folder to your current Desktop.

3. Open IncrediMail, click on File > Import and Export > Import Messages.

4. In the pop-up window, select "IncrediMail" and click on Next.

5. Click "Select Folder" and browse to the "Identities" folder located on your Desktop. Click on Next.

6. Select the option "All Folders". Click on Next.

7. When complete, click on Finish.

8. In the main IncrediMail window, click on File > Import and Export > Import Contacts.

9. In the pop-up window, select "IncrediMail Address Book" and click on Next.

10. Click "Select Folder" and browse to the "Identities" folder located on your Desktop. Click on Next.

11. When complete, click on Finish.

Please let me know the results.

Thanks for your Help.
First try was a fail, because it says after some minutes "Out of Memory"..
I try again tomorrow.. I think there was tooo much data. :)
Maybe it will help, if I delete the Attachment-folder, or the files I don't need anymore (pictures and old PDFs)

In this case, when importing the messages, rather than selecting the option "All Folders", please select the option "Select Folders" and then try importing the individual folders into your current installation.

Please let me know the results.

It take some time, but now the Messages are back in place. But I still missing some inbox-messages. But it isn't sooo important.

But I can't import the contacts. If I do like you wrote, it comes up an windows that try to import and then it says "There are no contacts in the IM-adressbook, that can be importet" (In german by the way).
Do I something wrong, or ist maybe the file corrupt?
I choose like befor the "identities" folder

In this case, please try importing the contacts from the "AddressBook" folders contained in each of the "Identities\{Some-Really-Long-Number}" folders, as the import does not always work from the parent "Identities" folder.

Please let me know the results.

Okay, thanks. I think it works.

I hope that Incredimail will become a new version in future, that works better with windows 10.. For now it crashes much to often :(
It is the best Email-Client I know, with wonderful Features. I hate, to use other clients..

As the crash issue has long since been resolved, please run the following executable to install the latest build of IncrediMail 2.5:
http://www5l.incredimail.com/im/imsetup ... lSetup.exe

When complete, please restart your computer.

If the problem continues, it's possible the issue you encountered is because another program running on your computer is conflicting with IncrediMail.

Therefore, please disable all of the startup programs in Windows as instructed in the online article at:
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/disable ... indows-10/

After that, please restart your computer and then open the IncrediMail application.

Please let me know the results.

Dear,

I have to change my computer and want to retrieve all my e-mails, address book, letters, notifiers, ... on my new pc.

I copied my Incredimail identity on the new pc and imported the messages in Incredimail, but I do not have all the mails.
When I look on the old pc, I see that the date of my Inbox.imm file is 12/12/2015. So I understand that's why I only have my mails until this date.
However, on my old pc, I have mails from 12/12/2015 until 05/03/2017. I try to find another inbox.imm file, but do not find it.
Did Something change in the structure of the files ?

I also see there is an option to transfer the data from an old computer to a new computer, but I miss one option, i.e. the option to export the data from the old computer. I only have the option to import the file data.cab from the old computer to the new.

Can you help me retrieving all my mails and by the way the letter I created on my old pc ?

Thanks in advance
