EXPORT Data and settings

Postby tomlaur1042925 » Wed Dec 18, 2013 1:34 pm

Your IncrediMail Version: 2.5
Your Internet Browser Type: FireFox 3.5
Your Operation System: Windows XP

What have you done before the problem occurred?

If you receive any error message, please quote it precisely:

Please provide a full description of the problem:
I am currently looking to backup my incredimail because I purchased an updated computer and would like to reinstall INCREDIMAIL on my NEW computer. I attempted to go to INCREDIMAIL, clicked on FILE and then scrolled down to the DATA AND SETTING TRANSFER WIZARD, then over but my only option was to IMPORT DATA AND SETTINGS, there was no option to EXPORT DATE AND SETTINGS? How can one IMPORT DATA if you can't EXPORT? Is this an error or issue with INCREDIMAIL that there is no EXPORT DATA AND SETTINGS? Based on research, even the INCREDIMAIL Help articles state that you simply need to go to FILE>DATA AND SETTINGS TRANSFER WIZARD>EXPORT DATA AND SETTINGS. Unfortunately, when they updated INCREDIMAIL, they must have left that option to EXPORT out? Anyone else having that issue? My wife's computer and my own computer are both unable to export? She is using Windows XP and I am using windows 8

The option to export your data is not available in the latest IncrediMail 2.5 versions.

Please follow these steps to manually backup your IncrediMail data:

**1.** Exit the IncrediMail application by right-clicking on the icon in your Windows taskbar and selecting 'Exit'.

**2.** In Windows Explorer, browse to the following location: C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\IM **Note: YOURUSER refers to your actual Windows user**.

**3.** Copy the 'Identities' folder to your chosen backup location.

To later import the backup, please do the following:

1. Copy the 'Identities' folder from the backup location to your Desktop.

2. Open IncrediMail, click on File > Import and Export > Import Messages.

3. In the pop-up window, select 'IncrediMail' and click on 'Next'.

4. Click 'Select Folder' and browse to the 'Identities' folder located on your Desktop. Click on 'Nex't.

5. Select the option 'All Folders' and make sure the 'Import To a New Folder' option is checked. Click on 'Next'.

6. When complete, click on 'Finish'.

Once IncrediMail has imported your email messages, do the following to import your IncrediMail contacts:

1. In the main IncrediMail window, go to File > Import and Export > Import Contacts.

2. In the pop-up window, select 'IncrediMail Address Book' and click on 'Next'.

3. Click 'Select Folder' and browse to the 'Identities' folder located on your Desktop. Click on 'Next'.

4. When complete, click 'Finish'.

Let me know if you encounter any difficulties.

I can't import messages with this method.
After I selected the "identities" folder and clicked "next", I get the screen where I can choose "all folders" or "selected folders". But there are no folders shown and I can't click "next"?
Who can solve this problem?

The Inability to be not able to use the " Export Data and Transfer" Settings will cause some people to change their Email provider.

I have been Happy with Incredimail for many years - but this not been able to transfer easily - Does Not help the product
