data export crash

Postby flesh181 » Wed Mar 20, 2013 9:26 am

Your IncrediMail Version: 2.5
Your Internet Browser Type: FireFox 3.5
Your Operation System: Windows 7

What have you done before the problem occurred?
I've done nothing prior to this I've just done the transfer attempt for the first time.
I've tried to do this on version 2.0 but with no success so I've tried upgrading to the current 2.5 version but still the same problem.

If you receive any error message, please quote it precisely:
Exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION (C0000005) - on reading from 8AF29772
Faulting Offset: 000BF59D
Module: ImUtilsU.dll

000BF59D ImUtilsU.dll

Please provide a full description of the problem:
I've been trying to export my emails & contacts ETC as I have a new computer but when I export the data it gets about 2/3 of the way and crashes giving me this error :
Exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION (C0000005) - on reading from 8AF29772
Faulting Offset: 000BF59D
Module: ImUtilsU.dll

000BF59D ImUtilsU.dll

It always does it when it get to the stage where it has " 1722 files compressed & 1594 files copied " I've tried a number of times & it's always the same error & the same numbers when compressing & copying.
Can anyone help ? I've tried to even find the area where all the emails are kept to try to copy them as is but can't find them on my computer.
Please help.

Since you are experiencing this problem, I would like you to try and boot your computer in Safe Mode, which loads Windows with only the necessary drivers, then try using IncrediMail again.

To boot your Windows in Safe Mode, please do the following:
Print out these instructions, so that you can follow them after restarting your computer.
Restart your computer.
Before Windows starts, press the 'F8' key on your keyboard.
Select the 'Safe Mode (with Networking)' option from the 'Mode Select' menu.
After Windows starts up, open IncrediMail and let me know if the problem continues to occur.

Note: To restore your computer to its normal state, simply reboot it.
Best regards,

We are looking into this at the moment.

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience.

In the meantime, to manually back up your data, please take these steps:

1. Browse to the following location on your computer:

XP -  C:\Documents and Settings\Your Profile Name\Local Settings\Application Data\IM\

Vista\7 -  C:\Users\Your Profile Name\AppData\Local\IM\

2. Copy the 'Identities' folder to your chosen backup location.

3. To import the files, click on 'File', and 'Import & Export', and then 'Import Messages..'.

4. Select 'Messages', and then choose 'IncrediMail' from the list.

5. Browse to the backup location, and select the 'Identities' folder.

6. Click 'Next'.

In order to import your Contacts, please repeat these steps using the 'Import Contacts...' option instead of 'Import Messages...'.

Please Note: Please make sure the 'Import To a New Folder' option is marked.

Well, I did the steps described above and yes it transferred everything from one computer to the other, but when I checked for mail on the new computer it continued to download ever email from the past including the ones I had just transferred. That was over 30,000 emails over the 5yrs I've had the account. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid.

:-(
