I havent done anything that would have changed my settings

I have been trying to connect to my incredimail for the last two days some emails have come in but trying to send emails is not happening. after so long i get a pop up that says " Failed to connect to outgoing server ' smtp.gmail.com please try again later' ,
I have tried to update the Incredimail software to see if this would help but its just the same.
hope you can advise me on what i can try
