Android phone (HTC desire) rejects incredimail

Postby neilt » Fri Oct 01, 2010 5:38 pm

Your IncrediMail Version: n/a
Your Internet Browser Type: FireFox 3.5
Your Operation System: Windows 7

What have you done before the problem occurred?
This isn't an issue with the use of incredimail but it may stop people using incredimail, please see description below.

If you receive any error message, please quote it precisely:

Please provide a full description of the problem:
I am not an incredimail user, but some of my contacts are.

Email generated by incredimail, even plain text email, cannot be downloaded from severs by the Android phone, HTC desire.

It reads email from every other source (outlook, hotmail, gmail, thunderbird ...)

Are you in the process of resolving this?

IncrediMail is an email client not an email account provider. You should check your Android configuration as it downloads your emails from your email server and not from IncrediMail.

Many thanks for responding.

I am, however, very aware that Incredimail is an email client and not an email account provider.

My phone is correctly configured: It downloads email perfectly well when people send it to my email provider using outlook, thunderbird, yahoo .....

The only time the download fails is if someone has sent me an email from the incredimail client.

In case that isn't clear:

If someone sends me an email using Incredimail, I cannot read it.
If someone sends me an email using any other email client, I can read it.

Can I ask that this issue be investigated please? Is there a plan to make the email generated by Incredimail usuable by the HTC Android phone?

Thanks,

Neil

I am also having the same problem on my HTC Desire with Android 2.2. I can open email sent by other client but can't open email sent by Incredimail. The setting is not the fault otherwise I can't read any email at all. So there must issue with emails sent by Incredimail that makes it unopenable by Android email client.

Can someone have a look at this problem?

Hi "IncrediModerator",

That's now 3 of us with the same problem. Can you clarify how and when this issue is being resolved - we will have to start asking our friends and colleagues to stop using incedimail so we can stay in contact with them? Thansk,

Neil

There is a real issue here! I use a Driod Incredible and emails sent from an Incredimail client come into the phone as a blank email with 2 attachments always. Both attachments are named "noname". This happens even if the email is just text.

If it's plain text it dosen't happen, but if it's text in an html, it comes through as attachments only. This doesn't happen with any other email client.

Hi,

It’s been almost 6 weeks and Incredimail has yet to answer this question.
“Why can’t an Incredimail generated email be read by an Android phone?”

I’m in the market for a new phone and so are many of my friends and acquaintances. So I need to decide, If I should get a different phone or use a different email client.

If your test shows that this is not an Incredimail problem, GREAT. But, please let me know.

Thanks.

It seem slightly odd that having replied quickly the first time there is now no response and it is very clear that there is an issue here.
Is there anyone out there who is involved in the development team? Has this made it to the issues list and is there a time frame for resolving it?
Thanks,
Neil
